  • Good to know

    • A valid ski pass is required and is not included with ski lessons.

Grand Tourmalet has two sides: La Mongie and Barèges. In summer, they are linked by the road over the Col du Tourmalet. In winter, the connection is provided by the Tourmalet chairlift (from Barèges to La Mongie) and the Espade chairlift (from La Mongie to Barèges).

We recommend booking your ski lessons on the side closest to your accommodation. If you're staying in La Mongie, it's best to book your lessons there.

You can also view the trail map for La Mongie and Barèges.

Yes, you must have a valid lift pass to attend your ski lessons.

If you're a beginner, the best option is the Flex Card. It gives you access to flexible pricing based on the areas where you ski, so you only pay according to the sector you use.

Order it online, slip it into your ski jacket and you're ready to hit the slopes!

Places are limited and the most popular lesson times fill up quickly. We therefore recommend booking as early as possible. Ideally, you should reserve your ski lessons from October onwards, whether you're planning to ski in La Mongie or Barèges.

La Mongie: If you're new to skiing, head to the Family Zone and the Carrières green run. Once you're feeling more confident on your skis, take the Turon and Corails drag lifts to enjoy beginner-friendly green runs such as Vallée des Indiens, Turon 1 and Oursons.

Barèges: After parking at Tournaboup, you'll arrive directly at the beginner zone. Start on the magic carpet in the Grange sector. Once you've mastered stopping and turning, take the Tournaboup chairlift. You can even stop at La Laquette Restaurant for a break before exploring the Family Zone and the long green Tournaboup run through the pine forest.

If you've booked lessons on the Barèges side, the meeting point for all lessons is at the foot of the slopes in Tournaboup.

If you've booked on the La Mongie side, there are two meeting points:

  • In front of the chapel, near Place de la Grenouillère.
  • In front of Hôtel La Mandia, close to the Baby area.

Grand Tourmalet offers 13 green runs and 24 blue runs, giving beginners plenty of opportunities to learn and progress.

You'll also find fun learning features across the ski area, as well as a Family Zone on both the La Mongie and Barèges sides, designed especially for beginners and families.
